I am about to make my first payment on my new circuit city credit card. I noticed you could pay online through circuitcitycredit.com.
I setup my account and everything, but when I go to make the payment it asks me for my check number. Does that mean that that check is no longer usable and I should void it or whatever or is there some other reason they ask for the check number?

Doesn't that mean like your routing information and account info for that bank?

I have a Circuit City charge account too and also use online pay. Look over your payment setup again, I don't think it asks for the check number. However they will need the 9 digit routing and 10 digit account number. In the past, there have been merchants who have asked for check numbers, they simply generate an electronic check rather than routing the money. I used to enter numbers like 9997 or 8888. It'll just show up on your bank statements like so.

Yeah it asked me for my routing and account number when i set up the account, but when I got to pay the bill, it gives me the option to pay the minimum payment, the full ammount or another amount I specify, then right underneath that it asks for the check number, almost like as if I were paying by check over the phone. I know the other bills I pay online just need the routing and account number, thats why I ask.
