Question about checking on domain availability

Every time I do a search for a domain I want it is usually available. However, when I go back like a week or so later it is taken, even funky wierd names and replaced with those "search engine" stupid websites.

So do places like namecheap etc keep track of what people search for and then buy it so they can sell it at a higher price? This is getting mighty annoying.


Has anyone else noticed this?
