Question about changing motherboards....

I recently purchased the Biostar M7VIP motherboard but have been reading nothing but good things about the Epox 8K5A2, and have decided to get that instead. My question is will I need to format my HD again and reinstall the OS and everything? I'm assuming probably not considering both these boards have the KT333 Northbridge and 8235 southbridge which is really what matters. So can anyone give me a definite answer to this?

You should be ok. Those two items are the only thing that are usually OS configured. This is also assuming you will bring over the rest of your components with the same configuration.

You don't need to... but it's recommended... i know it's a pain in the ass but having all sorts of unexplained BSODs and errors would be an even bigger pain in the ass... 😀. Personally, i replaced an Asus Slot 1 440BX board with an Asus Socket 370 440BX board and there were no problems... but then again i had nothing important in that computer to worry about.

Thanks guys, ya that's what I thought, that the northbridge and southbridge are the main things that matter as far as the motherboard and the OS. All the other cards and drives will be the same I'm just doing a mb swap. If I feel like it I will reload the OS anyway, it's not that big of a deal although I JUST did it with the Biostar yesterday 🙂 Also if I do get ANY weird errors or anything like that I will format as well, the only way I won't I guess is if everything transfers over perfectly with NO errors or any weird symptoms.

The best thing you can do is to both format and reinstall. You'll save yourself so much wasted time and headaches if you just start fresh...Speaking from peronsal experience, even in situations were I went from the same mobo!!
