Question about cell phone # switching....

Hey whats up everyone. Currently i have Cingular and in my area, it sucks (tons of no service spots). I've had it for 4 years and im wanting to switch bad. My contract is up in the end of November and my boss suggested i should try Sprint. So i checked out their plans and everything seems pretty good. They offer a 14 day money back guarantee so i figure id try it out to see if the service is better than what i have. I called Sprint and asked if i purchased a plan and service with a new number and later when my contract is up for cingular can i transfer my old number over. The sales guy seemed a little unsure and said no i dont think that is possible, then he said let me confirm that with customer service rep. I was on hold for a couple of minutes and he said, yes actually you can switch your number from cingular at a later date at no charge. I was thinking if anything possible they would charge me to do that. Did anyone ever transfer an old number after getting a new plan with a new number?

how about this. go to SPRINT and talk to them about switching. tell them you'er contract is up in nov. and see what they say.

what's so sketchy about it?

The sales guy didn't know what to say and said no and asked someone else and said yes. I can see someone being unsure about a question and asking another person, thats not a problem. But i was thinking maybe they could be just doing that to make a quick sale.
