Question about CD-Rs

After burning CD-Rs with data on it, is it safe to put them back on the spindle stacked on top of each other? Blank CDs come on a spindle, and I'm assuming they're safe since it's tightly packed to begin with. What I intend to do was burning the CDs, labeling the tops with a marker, and putting them back on spindles to save some space, since those CD wallets take up too much space for the amount they can hold. Do you think it's okay? I'm trying to back up a large amount of data off of a computer. Thanks in advance.

I have a friend of mine that uses CDs like no one's business. He's got spindles and spindles of Cds. No problems. It's perfectly safe. ;)
