I was thinking of renting a car in Italy with my girlfriend. This would be for 3 days, we'll hit the cinque terra, florence, among other places. So far, I've looked on hertz and the cheapest so far is a Fiat Panda for $234, or Ford Fiesta for $291. The Panda is a manual - I am relatively new to manual (3 years), but fine/comfortable with it here. Now, I heard drivers there can be crazy, so I'm wondering if its worth paying the extra for the auto so I dont have to worry about the clutch/shifting and pay more attention to the road for drivers about to cut me off ....

Well, after looking on kayak.com, found much better rates, cheapeast rental is $97 with manual, or $152 with automatic. So, debating whether paying the extra ~$50 or so is worth it.
