ok, i know the downpipe/headers replace precats... but i'm not sure exactly what the presilencer does... i'm getting a car soon (see sig), and he's got a streetport hooked up to a header/presilencer with a hks 50mm cat-back... the only thing i don't know is wtf does a presilencer do (other than maybe make it quieter...)

thanks in advance for da help

No idea.

The exhaust on my car is like this:

Headers -> H-pie -> catback.

the cats are on the H-pipe. The mufflers are in the miuddle of the catback.

Yours has too much extra crap on it. :)

To make it quieter is the only function i'm aware of. Perhaps someone else has a better answer.

Not sure exactly. I bought an el-cheapo cat-back (Pacesetter) b/c I didn't feel like forking out $300+ when I knew I would need something different in a couple of years. This one does have a muffler on the midpipe. Looking through it, there's nothing in the actual path of the air so I think in this case its just a resonator. There's also a resonator tip on mine but I guess they work together to acheive the desired sound? I know that any good aftermarket system, Greddy, HKS, etc. does not come with any sort of resonator/muffler on the midpipe.

All of this is for a 91 Accord. YMMV.
