July 1, 1867 Upper Canada (Ontario), Lower Canada (Quebec), New Brunswick and Nova Scotia became The Dominon of Canada by act of the British Parliament (British North America Act, 1867)

Canada became really independent when the British Empire was replace by the British Commonwealth (1932 or 33 IIRC)

Constitution was created in 1982, until which time Canada had no written constitution, much like Britain today.

Uh, I think we had a constitution before then, but we had to go to the British government to get it changed, and the Queen had to sign off on it. 1982 marked the year we got full control over it.

They're still controlled by the heartless, evil British Queen overlord. Hopefully she will be dethroned.

Its all depend on how deep a person want to dig. In absolute truth the British symbolism still rule Canada today through the Governor General & Lieutenant Governors.

yup, even though the power is in name only. its still a symbol that we really didn't "take our independence". Britain sorta just gave it to us.
