my mom has a dell 4600 with:

40 gigs
and p4 2.2 ghz

and to me it seems like hers is running faster than mine.....is there something i can do/buy to boost the speed? cables???if so which kind......thanks alot

Spy ware .. SPY WARE.. gotta hate them, download Ad-aware or Search and distroy. If you want to see your actual speed, just reinstal the OS

Is it slow for games or everything?

If it's just slow for games it's probably your video card (or integrated video as the case may be).

Download Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta. I really like it and technically Microsoft didn't make it...just some company they bought out...

It works like an Antivirus program that you can schedule to run at any time. Plus support. Lots of support with a large company behind it.

i doubt your mom's computer has a faster graphics card. they both probably run an onboard video. you probably have many unecessary services running in the background. take out some of the programs you don't use by start > run > type 'msconfig', uncheck the uncheck the programs you won't use that often.

Besides running two or three spyware cleaners (Adaware, Spybot Search&Destroy, and the M$ spyware beta), do thorough virus scan with latest definition files. Run CCleaner (CrapCleaner) too, DL from majorgeeks.com.
. Putting your drives on separate controller channels, if they aren't already, may help too.
