Question about cable quality - PC to LCD TV

I have a 32" Sharp LCD TV and am connecting it to my machine via the DVI output from the 7800GTX to the LCD TV.

The problem is that the TV has composite, component, DSUB, S-Video, and HDMI inputs. I currently have a 25 ft DVI cable, and I need to know if I should go buy a DVI to HDMI cable, or if I can simply get a DVI to DSUB adapter to utilize my current DVI cable.

Quality wise, what would be the difference between DVI to HDMI, and DVI to DSUB for what I am doing? Would simply using the S-video cable be better quality than DVI to DSUB? I really don't want to go buy another cable at this point, especially since it needs to be 22 feet long, and a 25ft DVI to HDMI cable is pretty expensive.

Can't you just get a DVI->HDMI adapter and use your existing cable? DVI and HDMI use the same video spec; HDMI is just DVI with digital audio bundled in the same plug.

Not much.

Um, no. S-video is a horrible analog spec that is limited to ~640x480 interlaced.

You shouldn't need a new cable.

Thanks. I intended to pickup a HDMI Male - DVI Female adapter, and if they are indeed identcial then thats really what I needed to know.

Excuse my ignorance on the s-video question, I found that even googling those video formats made it pretty confusing, you summed it up perfectly for me.

I don't know where you're looking for cables, but this would be a good starting point for the price of an adapter to see if you can get something cheaper.

I'm actually dealing with a LCD TV mounted on a wall, so it has a VERY small amount of room to work with. That hard adapter is just a tad too long. I'm looking for a swivel adapter or a cable adapter.
