Question about cable in case

I just bought a new case and I'm not sure what some of the cables in it are for. I haven't had a new case in some time and the one I just got was a cheap one but still new, so I'm a little befuddled.

Anyways, the cables come right out of the spot where all those HDD Led, Speaker, etc. wired come out of. It is from the front of the case. The wires are different though...they are wrapped in a thicker tubing i guess you would call it.

Anyways, there are 3 of these different things. On two of them, there are connections that say Port +, Port -, Vcc, and G. I know that G is ground and Vcc is a voltage source, but that is this port business and what do I hook it up to?

The last tube thing has connections that say Mic, R, L, and G I believe. I'm guessing this is for some microphone or headphone piece, but where do I connect it? To the sound card? I have just never seen this stuff connected to the computer case before.

The first one you mentioned sounds like the wiring for a USB port. Does your case have USB outlets on the front?

The second one would be for front-audio outlets. What case is this exactly? Sounds interesting.

ah yes, it does have USB outlets on the front. I never thought of that. So where exactly would I plug em in? Is there a spot on the mobo? such as where the usb plugs on the mobo would connect?

I i don't believe there are audio hookups on the front...not sure about that.

I bought the case from Amamax. It's a cheap case, like a little over 20 bucks, but still newer than what I had. Do you want to know the exact detail number and stuff?

Probably not necessary to know precisely, no. :) What brand and model of motherboard do you have, I'll look up what headers it might have.

Also, the audio wiring... is that ending in 1/8" stereo plugs like you'd find on a pair of headphones, or does it end in small plastic plugs like found on the LED/Power/Reset wiring? If it looks like the LED/Power/Reset wiring, is it all one plug or several small ones?

the mobo is an 867AS. um...I think it's a via...not too sure...just search for 867AS and i'm sure you'll find it.

for the audio wiring, the ends are like the LED/Power/Reset wiring and has several small ones.

And also, there's one more plug that I forgot to tell you about. But it's not really a plug i guess. It comes from the same place (front of the case) and it looks like a rubber thing at the end some blue thing at the very tip. But I don't think it's really a plug...like it doesn't look like it would fit in anywhere. I didn't really inspect it so I could be wrong, but I had no idea what this was for.

Although I found the motherboard and downloaded the manual, the manual's not working in Acrobat Reader. If you have the printed manual, you can determine where the onboard USB header pins are located and in what order to plug in the wiring. Ditto for the front-panel audio header. Good luck! :)

It's actually intended to be a cheetah (note the black "tear marks"). But we love Snails too :) Actually, I'm the author of both the Snail and Cheetah avatars, as well as some of the others :)
