Question about brewing coffee.

Does double filtering the coffee, using two paper filters instead of one, weaken the brew? My blade grinder pulverizes some of the beans and it seems that some of that powder gets through the filter and gives the coffee a bitter flavor. I just tried using two filters and it isn't bitter, but the flavor doesn't seem to be quite as robust.

Maybe with 2 filters I should use a little more grounds?

use burr grinder. blade sucks because it is uneven. too much extraction = bad taste, too little = weak. and u get the whole range with blade grinder. when i used to use a blade grinder i never had to use two paper filters..thats nuts. ur grinding way too long. and use enough grounds. 3tbs per 8oz cup

Yes, and if you can't afford a burr grinder, just grind the beans in-store, and store the ground coffee in an airtight container at home.

I hope you're using a melita (plastic funnel w/ filter, pour in boiling water). Using a coffemaker w/ freshly ground beans doesn't make too much sense to me! 🙂

Since I keep destroying burr grinders, I've started grinding in the grocery store & chunking the freshly ground coffee in the freezer.
