Why is it when i see someone in a video using a bong, there's some water at the bottom of the bong? Why do you need water when smoking a bong?

pretty much, also TCH is not water soluble, so you get the stuff you want while most of the impurities stay in the water.
 
the water filters out the tar, makin the smoke clean

it is why people smoke tabbacco out of them, super clean

No, it still gives you cancer. But w/ the water, it tastes sweeter.
 
Plus you can take really big rips with them because its cool and clean. Like as much as much air as you can fit in your lungs, is as much smoke you can get from a bong.
 
Aircooled is correct, is cools the smoke and filters it (though perhaps negligeably) making the hit smoother. It also has a head rush type effect if its big enough, since, as you draw smoke into the chamber, your depriving yourself of oxygen and heightening the epxerience hwen you finally toke the chamber.

Neither the Tar nor the THC is water soluble (unless you failed solubility rules in Chemistry.)
 
it's better on your lungs than any of the other ways to smoke it (doesn't mean it's not harmful, just better than the other options)
 
Tar is non polar and water is polar.
Tar has one of the lowest solubilies in water of anything I can think of or google.
I used to smoke dope and you would always here that the bong removes the tar or bad stuff, but I think thta is basically an old stoner's tale.
 
cools the smoke. gravity bongs are much better at this unless you have a great big bong. the more efficient at removing the heat the better. gravity bong is nothing but a say bucket or so of cold or icey water and half a 2 or 3 liter with a piece of foil on top.

There's more in smoke than just thc & tar. The amount you can toke in a binger without hacking up a lung is at least 5x what you can using other methods, there's definitely more to it than smoke temperature.

Well sh1t I've done that several times. I enjoy the smell, and the taste isn't bad at all. Of course you woudn't want o smoke out of something to skunky, much less drink it.
 
no it cools down the THC which you want in the weed, which has been degraded by heat. cooling down with water allows you to absorb more weed.

i don't smoke but i've learned all about it.
