Question about bombs in airline luggage...

Orsorum

Lifer
Does anyone have any statistics as to how many bombs have been found or rumored to have been contained in (in flights that went down) in checked baggage?

I'm thinking that hand searches of carry on make much more sense than anything more than perfunctory searches for checked luggage.

If you are travelling at Mach 0,8+ at 20000+ ft then it doesn't matter if the bomb that blows up the plae you are stting in was in carry on or checked baggage. I would prefer to wait for ALL my baggage to be checked then to be blown out of the sky.

I know it doesn't matter if a bomb is located in checked or carry on luggage.... but statistically, how many bombs have been contained in checked luggage?
