Question about BFG 6800 GT heatsink...

I am putting together a new computer, and I ordered a BFG 6800 GT graphics card to put in it. Since I'm trying to make it as silent as possible, I also ordered the Zalman VF700-Cu heatsink to put on it.

Yesterday, I was trying to remove the BFG heatsink, and I couldn't get it off so I just put the screws back in and put it in the case with the stock heatsink for now, since it was the most expensive component in the system and I didn't want to break it before I even had a chance to boot the machine up.

So, I turned to Google to find out if there was something special I needed to do to remove it...I removed all 8 screws/springs from the back but it was stuck tight to the front...there must be tons of thermal tape under there. As I was Googling though, I noticed that no website that I could find had a picture of the BFG 6800 GT that I have. Every picture I can find, has a picture of a black fan with a heatsink covered up by a cheesy looking BFG logo thing. The BFG 6800 GT that I received has an enormous copper heatsink and a clear plastic fan, covered by a clear plastic shield. Here's a link to a picture (sorry about the angle):

Does anyone else have a BFG with a heatsink that looks like this? If so, how is it noise/heat wise? Will I still want to replace it with the Zalman? And if so, how the heck do I get it off of there? 🙂 Just pull really hard?
 
That looks like a Rev 2 on steriods! I would test it out before I replaced it with a Zalman. It looks quiet. Why not just test it out yourself?
 
Well, I am going to test it out first now, because that thing is stuck on there *really* good, so before I go trying to pry it off, I'm going to test it out with the stock one on there. I still have a few more things to assemble and then install software, etc, though. 🙂

I was just curious to know if anyone had first hand experience with a card with this heatsink. And was curious if they redid the heatsink since I can't find any pictures or mention of a new revision with a new heatsink.
 
That HSF should be good. It looks like the ones used on MSI boards and tehy are pretty quiet and had decent cooling. I would stick to stock. You said you booted it up. Did you dislike the noise output by the card?
 
I hadn't booted it up when I originally posted. I did boot it up last night, and it is a blue LED fan. I thought it was a big on the loud side, but I didn't have the side panels on the case, so maybe it's not as bad as I thought.
 
how are the temps.

also, i always use the stock cooler for a ~ a week to make sure there are no immediate issues with the card. makes it easier if you have to rma it and running a bit before removing the cooler makes it much easier.
 
BFG Coolers tend to be on the loud side, they need the added cooling since they OC theirs, so I doubt that one will be much quieter. Definately looks better than the last two though, lots of copper 🙂
