I was wondering, if you're addicted to smoking are you just mentally dependent like "man i really want a cigarette now" or do you get physically dependent too like you'll get sick if you don't smoke

Many people don't like to smoke but they do coz they think (or feel) they need it.

Aw crap. That must be it....since I've been home for winter break, with my parents, I can't just go outside and smoke whenever I feel like it. I'm probably only smoking like 1/5 as much, or less. I'm feeling light headed and dizzy and maybe this is why. I don't really feel like smoking a cigarette though.

It feels almost like when I stopped taking Paxil, I didn't want the medicine at all but I got really sick for a while

I used to get that when I started smoking 6 yrs ago. I actually would get sick if I smoked too much. It is a matter of both physical and mental and if you can fight off the mental you can quit. Im going to try after the new years and hope I can pull it off. These things are too expensive to buy.

It means you aren't really addicted, you still can give it up. Give up while you can. I know a hardcore smoker who, when he runs out of cigarettes, goes out to buy some at 3 a.m. This is just sick.

I go weeks without even thinking about it, never been addicting like most people I guess, my friend AL would just be generally anxious, figety, and sweating if he didn't have one before noon.

I sometimes get really cranky when my nic level gets down lower but i have a cigg and feel better so there is a little both physical and mental. Anyone else ever get sick and throw up from smoking too much when they started? Kinda like Heroin same thing happens.

Umm, no. That means he is addicted. The dizziness and light headedness is the body craving for nicotine, whether he feels like having a smoke or not is immaterial, he merely hasn't realized that it is nicotine that is what he is craving.

Easy solution:

Tell my parents I smoke and then proceed to go out on the porch and chain smoke right in front of them. Then, I won't feel like I have to try and hide it anymore :)
