I just started watching the series and have a question about the first two eps.

Why was sobol reassianed to a training facility? was it because the major knows that he cannot perform on the field or they like the way he trained the troops?

Can someone explain what did winters & easy co. did to take out the three guns? At the end they said that they still use that same method to assault stationary targets. Too much to follow what was going on..

They knew he was unfit to command but he produced a good batch of troops. So rather than get alot of our boys killed, they shipped him back to training

Probably both. He pissed off his men by giving Winters some BS punishment on something he didn't do wrong. The fact that he is a dirty SOB and he is a retard in the field made a good number of his men write letters of mutiny. When a bunch of soldiers come forward and say they refuse to follow a leader into battle, it definitly doesn't look good.

I really didn't notice any particular tactic they were using to take out the guns. I only remember them confusing the Germans to fire on themselves at one point. They also improvised when they didn't have any c4 and used german grenades to take out the guns.

I think Sobel was made to look worse than he really was. Obviously he was not good in the field. However, he was an excellent trainer for Easy Co. When they took at the three big guns after landing in Normandy, they showed how well disciplined Easy Co was compared to the other company that assaulted the guns. Based on what was shown in Band of Brothers, Sobel deserves credit for whipping those guys into shape and Winters deserves credit (which he got) for being an exceptional tactical leader.

Winter's attack on the fixed position involved a multi-directional assualt with good supressive fire. He caused confusion within the German defenders as to where the attack was coming from and effectively used gernades to nuetralize the heavy machine gun threat. (at least im pretty sure that's what happened).
