How would one go about backing up his dvd's to a hard drive without losing any of the quality? And then, of course, how would one play the backups off of his hard drive?

what do you lose when you use DVDShrink? Menu's, languages, quality?

depends, you can choose to take out menus, other languages and such and just have the movie itself. or you can lose quality to the movie and keep the menus. i always take out other languages and just keep the 5.1 sound
