Question about AYHJA stepping?

I had a basic question about the whole Althon AYHJA.....AXIA....etc. revision/stepping ordeal.

I was wondering exactly it was. I know that there is no physical difference
between a T-Bird running at 900mgz or 1.4ghz. So it is just the periodic
refinement of the manufacturing process?? I know that the second letter
determines the order of the revision (i.e. A'X'IA, is earlier than A'Y'HJA, etc)
and that the later revisions are usually higher clocked processors (and better at
overclocking...). So am I in the ballpark or what???

This is a little dated, but I think it helps a little: What is a CPU stepping? (from Anandtech FAQs)

Later revisions don't always mean a higher clocked CPU, but obviously, the later CPUs come with the latest stepping.
