Question about Audigy 4/2/drivers

Well I just sold my chaintech av-710 to a user here like 3 days ago. This was because I couldn't stand the ever buggy drivers. The sound quality was good though.

The main problem was that whenever I wanted to play music I had to enable "stereo expander" to get it to play on all my speakers (7.1). I didn't mind this except for the fact that if you left it on it would screw up anything that was originally mastered for surround sound. This could be games/movies etc.

So to the point, will the driver's for the audigy 2/4 allow me to have on the "clone mode" for stereo signals and automatic detection of real surround sound, without changing modes manually?

Also I read that the Cmss?(sp) feature on those cards makes music into some converted form for 7.1 speakers. What exactly does it do or better yet does it sound good?

CMSS clones front channels to the rear and sides and attempts to extract voice to the center channel. Rear channels and sides are given some delay. CMSS 2 sounded allright to me when I had Audigy 2ZS, upgraded to X-Fi and settings here are slightly different.

I have never found out how to automate CMSS upmix switching. This would be in fact very handy...
