Question about AT&T DSL

I am looking to add AT&T DSL at home. I currently have DirecTV Choice Xtra and also an AT&T cell plan.

Their site doesn't explain anything pertaining to my situation and I had trouble getting through to a voice via their customer service line.... otherwise I'd have an answer.

Anyway, is it possible to add AT&T DSL in a bundle to save $?

Do they even offer bundles to include directv, cell service, and dsl?

I don't need a phone line, just naked DSL. And I'm located in Atlanta.

Any advice or experiences with them? I've been warned to stay away from Comcast.

I got through to a CSR finally... what a load of crap.

He says he can't currently bundle anything together because I'm an 'existing' customer.

But he can knock $5 off my DirecTV service monthly if I add DSL.

The best price he gave me over the phone was $47.95 monthly + $7.50/month for 10 months for the modem.

That is for 6mb DSL service. Sounds ridiculous to me. Maybe cable would be better afterall.

wasn't AT&T supposed to have some $10 DSL as a result of the merger with cingular?

We pay $26.95 / month for 6 mbit thought at&t (grandfathered SBC here).

That's pretty close to what we pay for the 6 mbit service here. (might be 30/mo)

OP, does AT&T offer U-verse in your area?

Just checked... nope can't get it.

There has got to be a better deal on DSL somehow.

I just went on att.com/dsl, typed in my zip code, and was given a price of $35/month for 6 Mbps. I currently pay $34/month for 3 Mbps without a phone line. I might have to see if I can upgrade to 6 Mbps for $5.

I pay $45/mo. for 6mbit DSL only (no phone line)

it's not terrible. The wireless router/modem they sent is kinda shitty though. I think heavy torrenting can cause it to reset, so you have to limit the number of connections.

be careful, they'll kick you to month to month after a while and raise your fee without informing you

I don't think they do that any more. I haven't been on a contract with them in years, and I pay $34/month for 3Mbps with no phone line. The website shows that this would cost $40/month, so my bill's actually cheaper than if I were a new customer. They might do a contract to cover the cost of the router though, but mine's still kicking after about 4 years of service.

and you can't get that price with a naked DSL, you have to get it with a land line phone service.

I've have had the $10 plan since august 2007(still just $10 too) and it works just fine for general surfing, some video watching, and downloading the larger updates. I don't really download anything on a regular basis though.
