question about asus update

im updating my a8v deluxe bios to 1014 using asus update. there is a box that says "clear cmos checksum to load default bios setting" by default this is checked. if i uncheck it does that mean all my bios settings will stay intact? will i have any problems in doing this?

Most people will say dont flash from Windows. I did it once and it flashed bad so i never will try again but i would check that box.

i usually flash from windows, never had a problem. i just wasnt sure if unchecking the box would screw stuff up. it would save a lot of time though

I would keep the box checked. A new bios may not have an exact setting that is set on your current bios and that could cause a bad flash to occur. Of course, it's always safer to put everything at default or manually clear the CMOS prior to flashing.
