Question about Antenna placement

I recently picked up a roof top "christmas tree" type antenna, and I was going to place it in my attic, but I got to thinking about putting it in the crawl space under my porch. Access to the crawl space is through my basement.

What kind of results do you think I'll get from the crawl space vs the attic? The antenna is an AntennaCraft CCS1538.

With everything else being equal, the higher you place your antenna the better. Things like tall trees or building can mess with the signal even if it's on your roof. I would think that placing it under the porch wouldn't result in very good reception, because there would be a ton of things to block the signal (especially the house itself).
