Question about Antec 1080

Hello, I just joined the forums. 😀
Anyway, I just bought an antec 1080 arriving in a week. I heard that the front usb ports were not USB 2.0 Is this true? and if so, does Antec offer usb 2.0 front ports?
Thanks in advance.

There's no diff between USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 ports or cables. It will work just fine, you just have to figure out how to hook them up to your mobo (kinda confusing)

hey rosen, yes it's true that the front ports on this bad boy is not usb 2.0 rated. what you do is just email them and say that you heard that they will send you replacement front panel usb ports to 2.0 and be sure to give them your mailing address.

i did that and they sent it to me post haste.

good guys there at antec!

--edit--

and yes, it is a bit tricky as to how to hook up the panel to your mobo, but just refer to the manual and you'll be fine

Welcome to the Forums Rosencrantz, post back if you get confsued by the USB hookup. 🙂 That case ventilates well and has a very good power supply, plus they're delightful to work inside. Hope you like it! 😀

I had a similar issue with the Sonata Case. It came with USB 1.1 front port (module was clearly marked USB1.1). Contacted Antec tech support and they sent me the USB2.0 module ASAP. The new module is clearly marked USB2.0. I'm no expert, but if there is no difference, why would the modules be marked differently? I am definitely noticing a difference in speed with my external USB2.0 CD-RW using the new module.

The cables are the same, but the front panel PCB board is not. My 1080 was 1.1, but the 1000AMG ship with USB 2.0 now. I didn't get one and I politely asked over email if I could have one. Antec shipped me one free of charge within a few days! I love those guys! Ask em and the'll send one to you. As far as hooking it up, print out the hook up sheet that Antec has on their site. I had to do it with my new P4C800-E and read each label to get it right, but now it works like a charm!!😎

I had no idea they weren't 2.0 and i've had my case for three months now. Either way this case rocks. Maybe i'll give antec a call and see about getting some 2.0 modules.
