The Alpha instructions say to blow fan away from heatsink. Has anyone tried blowing it onto the heatsink?

From what I've read, YMMV, depending on the airflow within your box. Try it both ways; mine works best blowing into the sink (but I've got an air duct to bring in fresh air just for the cpu fan in my rig). This is on a 6035, btw.

another vote for blowing into the sink. i tried it both ways and it's about 1-2c cooler on my rig.

cpusforless.com has the alphapal6035 in stock i believe. Reputable place and shipping is a flat 3.55 for all orders. Good luck.

The Alpha is engineered to suck air off the heatsink pins, that's why it uses a shroud. It is more efficient that way. I have tried both ways also and mine is a few degrees cooler when sucking the air away from the heatsink.
Each system is different though so I guess the best thing for you to do is try it both ways and see which one works better for you.

If you put a peltier underneath the alpha, the fan will work better if you suck the air away from the heatsink. Actually, for most cases, the alpha will almost always work better if you suck the air away from the heatsink; go to overclockers.com to read more. A few months ago, they had some benchmarks performed under the two conditions, and there was a noticeable 3 degrees drop when air was sucked away (IMHO, it does make sense when you look at length of those fins, and the tight spacing between them; blowing into them wouldn't give you much airflow, just think about it for one moment).

As mentioned above CPUs for Less has them in stock with the 23.3 CFM fan. It's alot quieter than the huge fan. Also if you go over to overclockers.com they have a code for free shipping from these guys. I spoke with him this morning and he says they are in stock, he picked up a bunch this weekend.
