Question about air compressors.

What type of usage could I get out of a 1/3hp, 3gallon compressor? I'm looking for one mainly to be used for small mechanical work.
 
It would depend on how adjustable the air pressure was. You can always lower it by use of a valve but if it can't be raised high enough it might preclude the use of some tools. Could be good for air-brushing though.
 
Airbrush , fill a tire. You need decent cfm to run most automotive air tools. I have 5hp 20gal electric and it barely covers my needs. The 12.5hp 30gal. gas rig on my work truck kicks a$$!
 
As noted above, minimal. I've got a 1-hp and a 1.5-hp at my work and they are barely adequate for what we do with them.
