Hey.
I have a situation with a Soyo 6bb (AT, BX chipset) that is rather odd, and I'd appreciate some suggestions. The problems began with some display oddities in OpenGL. Windows2d was fine and displaying no artifacts or discoloration. OpenGL, though, showed corrupted text and wildly varying color disparities. I thought the video card (CL TNT2 Ultra) was going bad, so I tweaked the card settings and lowered the RAM speed to 166 (from 183). This gave immediate improvement, but only for a short time. After about ten minutes of Half-Life (as opposed to immediately at 183) the text corruption and discoloration returned. I pulled the TNT2 Ultra (figuring it to be bad) and put in an Asus v6800 pure (GeForce DDR). With the v6800 the pc ran wonderfully, but only for a short time. The discoloration in OpenGL never appeared, but the text corruption did show up. Shortly after the text corruption appeared, Half-life locked up. Here comes the fun...
On reboot, the BIOS screen was corrupted and the pc froze. Bootup was not successful. I cleared the CMOS. Repeated attempts to boot showed either the same thing--multicolored blocks, getting worse and finally completely illegible, or nothing at all.
Both video cards have since been tested on another PC and have shown to haven no problems whatsoever (in Windows, OpenGL, or D3d).
Suggestions? Thanks.
