I was just wondering if there is any use for the last section of the AGP connector. The little piece that looks like a locking part. Just curious. Thanks

I've never seen an AGP slot that uses this. Is it that unimportant?

Yes, that little hook is used, just not on all motherboards, my old Asus A7v-e used it. IMO, it should be on every motherboard, it helps you make sure that you have the card fully seated.

some mobo's come with a retention mechanism which mounts on the agp slot. it doesn't come already mounted as older agp cards (eg. matrox g100) can't fit in that mechanism, so you better check your video card first. also, that piece of mech once mounted, can be taken off only by ripping it, at the risk of damaging the mobo:(
