right now i have 3 GB of Gskil memory on slot 1,2,3. i want to know if i can put 1 slot for 1 GB of memory and 2GB stick on slot 2 . does it still consider dual channel or not? or i have to put 1 and 3 slot in order to have dual channel.

 
RAM has to be identical pairs for dual channel, so you have to buy a kit of RAM. The RAM slots are colour coded pair for dual channel, either matching colour slots.
If you want 3 GB, you will have to have 2x 512 and 2 x 1gb dimms
