It has an HDMI ready header. I'm not sure I quite understand what it does though.

It says it provides S/P DIF audio to be connected with HDMI ready VGA cards offering HD multi-channel surround sound.

Would this only work if you are using the built in audio on the board or does an HDMI ready VGA card have audio and video come from the HDMI port? Do HDMI ready vga cards generally not have audio out? It's only something that can be added to it if your have a sound card or motherboard that has an out for it?

I'm a noob in HDMI, does that one port carry both audio and video?

Also does the xfi extreme audio have HDMI ready header?

some new/about to come out video cards have spdif and hdmi on them...

hdmi passes 5.1 audio as well as digital video.

depends on the manufacturer. i know i saw some that are coming out in the summer from ati...not too sure about nvidia though. if that board has spdif out already on it, i dont see why you cant use that for audio.....

not sure about the x-fi extreme.
