well this is my first post so if it doesnt belong here please let me know......thnx.....well where to begin....ive been doing a lot of research online lately in order to build my "ultimate" gaming/everything computer....and i have a lot of questions that hopefully can be answered....so far i've decided on getting the sound blaster audigy 2 platinum (with the black face).....kingwin case KT-436BK-WM.....Sony's dvd-/+r -/+rw DRU500A....maxtor HD 7200rpm/133 with fluid dynamic bearings (size doesnt matter really....as long as its above 80g).....so here are my questions

1.)this might sound stupid....but should i bother getting a seperate dvd player and cdrw?....or just use the dvdr for everything

2.)which graphics card should i get?.....radeon 9700?....i like visionteks ti4600 cuz it has tv in & out....or i could just get the all in wonder radeon 9700 (but more $$)

3.)which power supply should i get?.....i want my computer to be QUIET (or as quiet as possible)....yet i want 400+ W....

4.)and the biggest question....which mobo and processor....i really want a p4....just gotta figure out which mobo and chipset....the SIS648 really appealed to me cuz it supports agp 8x and SATA and ata133.....but my friend said i should stick with intel chipsets....so that limits me to the 845pe.....but that doesnt support ata 133, SATA, or agp8x.....so if i do go for the 845pe which mobo should i get?....i'm willing to spend a bit of money on the mobo but i couldn't find a 845pe mobo with everything i want...so whats the best one out there?....i'm not really into overclocking yet....but want to keep that option open....should i just get the SiS?....and if so which mobo?....ANY input would be VERY appreciated...thanks!

1.i would say yes you can get a liteon for 40.00 to burn smaller files and save the wear and tear of the 350..00 sony
2.i like my 9700 pro and wouldn't mind the aiw version.i rule out the gforceti4600 only because you said "ultimate"gaming/everything rig
so get the aiw it is the ultimate
3.antec true power 430 watt
4.get the options you want down then research which one has problems to narrow your choices then ask for feedback and user opinions <hope this helps

well, you sound like your in the same boat i am...I'm getting basically the same components you are...
I went with the directron 201-b case, enermax 550, asus p4g8x(although i'm really considering getting the ga-8inxp mobo instead), i already have the sb audigy platnium I and ati 9700pro and promedia klipsch speakers, i'll be getting ddr400(1 gig),sony dru500a,l.i.s. lcd, vantec nexus 4-port fan controller, and some case mods...
The intel 850 chipset is still the fastest p4 platform out there, however rambus memory is on the way out...At the moment there is no real advantage to 8X agp(although it's nice to have.) Your sony will do pretty much whatever you'll want it to do...You won't be able to listen to tunes(cd) while burning a dvd...but if that's a problem you can add one(cd player) later.
Things to consider...Memory(springdale chipset supports 400ddr),HD specs(do you want serial HD capabilities for future upgrades?), Power supply needs...newer intel chips will be watt hogs....
Here's a site with a serious ATI card modded...http://www.xtremesystems.org/module...e=article&sid=222&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0
it AIN'T cheap by no means....just a few things to kick around....😉
