question about a HP MCE remote

I can't find any info on if it only works with certain laptops, or if it's 100% MCE compatible. I'd lean towards 100% MCE except I almost bought a Dell MCD remote that only worked with the dell adapter. I'm not sure if this HP one is straight IR or RF. I really like the look and the size, I'm actually thinking about the 448165-002 (Europe) version, but I can find even less about that one. Assuming it's the same remote just sold in Europe - so it should work the same as the 001?
