Question about a headhunter

So so a headhunter called me 4+ weeks ago. I ended up not getting the job b/c the company just recently changed directors and the new director brought in a "contact" for my position that i've interviewed 3 times for.

ANYWAY........the first interview the headhunter set up got all messed up. I had to drive 2 hours approx 110 miles to meet the contact. Turns out the headhunter gave me the wrong day. So i drove 220 miles and 4 hours for no reason.

Am i basically stuck the $100 plus dollars in tolls and gas? I didnt really care b/c i was under the impression i was getting the job 4/1/6 but now that i wasted 3 sick days and at least $300 in gas, tolls, parking for a job I now cant get i'm a little annoyed.

I know its wishful thinking, but i feel for the first interview they should reimburse me for wasting my time.

Job hunting expenses can be tax deductible fyi

yea but now im waiting a year to get it right?
Yes - and you need to itemize.

When ever I will incour a large amount of expense for an interview (ie. out of the local area); I ensure that I have it in writing that some-one will pick up the expense tab.
I was burned to many times on "promises" of a postiion, or "they" will re-emburse you.
