Question about a gaming LCD

Which would be better for gaming, if all else is equal?

12ms response with 700:1 or,
5ms with 500:1?

edit: or would I even see a difference?

If you have to choose between such low contrast ratios its not a big deal, but for your response time, you definitely want as low as possible, I usually recommend single digits or you're going to see ghosting. If you want a goood gaming LCD, I'd suggest Samsung's new 19'' 931bf model. It has a 2ms response time and a 2000:1 contrast ratio. The thing's gorgeous.

If those are your only two choices then go with the LCD that is advertising 12ms response and 700:1 contrast ratio. 12ms response is plenty for first person shooter games. Also, LCD manufacturers tend to greatly exaggerate their response times and advertise response times measured in ideal conditions. Personally, I'm suspect of the ones that claim less than 10ms response times (usually).
