Question about a dying fan on an FX5200.

I built a system for my boss right at this time last year, and the video card I stuck in it was an Asus V9520TD Geforce FX5200 128MB DDR AGP 4X/8X video card. It's all 2D work on this comp, I don't think we've ever even asked the card to attempt 3D before. Anyways, the fan on the video card has started making a buzzing sound, not unsimilar to a bee flying around inside the case. It will do this for maybe 5 minutes, then quit for 5, then start for 5, then quit for 5, etc.

I'm not sure what's wrong with the fan, but I'm assuming it's dying, and if it's not, the noise needs to stop. Unfortunately, it's a fan that I don't readily have, so my question is, will the video card be in serious trouble heat-wise if the fan dies before I can get a replacement? It's not really a powerful card, and only handles 2D work. Any insight? Thanks.

I can't say for sure, but I ran my geForce2 Ti with a passive cooler for several months after I poked my finger in the fan. And by passive cooler I mean I just unplugged the fan.

Just unplug the fan and it will be fine. No need to replace the fan or the heatsink.

Thanks guys, I figured this would be the case. I just wish the card had a temp sensor on it to be sure.
