Question about 8 GB iPod Touch

Is the 8 GB iPod Touch still revision 2 in the hardware department, or is it the same hardware as the 32/64 GB? I'm looking to purchase an 8 GB one for my girlfriend, and I want to buy her the latest generation one, but I'm wanting to make sure it's the latest version!

From what I remember, when they first released it, it was still 2nd Gen, but I'm not sure if it has been updated since then or not.

the 2nd and 3rd gen 8GB ipod touch models are exactly the same! only the 32/64GB have 3GS hardware in them.

honestly, the only difference i saw is that the 3rd gen 8GB ipod touch now has a tethered jailbreak (correct me if im wrong)...
