i was looking around for a new card to buy and i think i settled on buying a 7900gs for its price/performance, i went to newegg and i saw 3 different xfx 7900gs cards:

this one having 1600mhz mem clock and 600mhz core:

480mhz core, 1400mhz mem:

450mhz core, 1320mhz mem:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150208

what i wanted to know is if it is possible to oc the 450mhz core 1320mhz mem card to 600core 1600mem?

You'll need an aftermarket cooler to overclock from 450 to 600 on the core. My BFG comes with a factory overclock of 540 on the core, but I can only overclock to 550. Then again, BFG doesn't have a very good cooler. If you consider the price difference, it's cheaper to get the 600/800 version because an aftermarket cooler will cost more than the price difference between the two.

You should get the maximum OCed one. XFX always checks the reliability of their XXX OC cards before shipping them out. If you have a pretty well cooled case, definitely get it. If not, get the next one down.

You might as well get a 7950GT 256MB for around $200AR (or $220 before). "Default" clocks are higher than "default" clocks on the 7900GS/GT, plus has more pipelines than the GS.

I would wait until Nvidia unviels their other 8 Series cards. If you don't want to, then buy the highest end 7900GS.

Get the BFG 7900GS. These have 7900GT chips with the pipelines disabled in the BIOS, so you can unlock them with Rivatuner.

Not true. Only some BFG cards use the GT core. Mine doesn't.

It's ridiculous to get a 7900gs for $190 when you can get a 7950gt for $200AR. Either get a 7900gs for $150, a 7950gt for $200, or a x1950xt for $250.

hmm, I didn't know that the 7950GT was $200, go for that then.
