Can the issue of >128GB Hard drives and the need for 48-bit LBA support be avoided simply by partitioning the drive into multiple partitions smaller than 128GB?
While partitioning the drive ahead of an install of a non properly serviced pack win2k\xp should get the os installed, it still won't get you the use of the whole drive. A pci ultra ata add-in card would solve the problem.
In terms of not getting use of the whole drive, what would you see if you booted up with WinXP SP1 using a 200GB drive partitioned into 2 100GB partitions?
I think 137GB is the non-48bit LBA limitation but 120GB + variance is the max they make for such computers (Though you could castrate a much larger drive to 137GB).
