New users only and it should also be noted (in case they have tiers) that this is for a 768k download. Jeez I remember when my first broadband was DSL and it seemed so fast. Now it would be like going back to dialup since using cable modem with 8 megabit down.

It's actually for 1.5mb/sec down speed.

You'll pay an early termination fee. It's 100 bucks.

There was one earlier for existing users too. It might still be going on, so head over to slickdeals.

I moved to the 3mbit plan for 18 a month.

Isn't yahoo dsl based on verizon?

Verizon & SBC (now AT&T) both use the Yahoo network.

I thought Yahoo is just a site..

Nope. The Yahoo network provides hosting, acct management, etc (basically ISP-frontend-in-a-box) to some companies... in addition to their other online ventures (powering storefronts, etc).

I'm in LA and I just got this deal. My download is closer to 1.5mbps. It's not blazing like the cable connection that I had before, but it's fast enough and a lot more stable.

You don't have to be a new user. My dad called them up and hinted that he was switching to a different company. That was enough for them to give him the new price.

But anything beats dial up.

1500/384 = $12.99

3000/512 = $17.99

6000/768 = ?

DSL is faster then it use to be although SBC uses a lame sync rate.

Loading web pages on the 1.5mpbs DSL at my apartment seems faster than on the 5mbps cable connection at my parents' house, especially when I'm loading several pages at once. Download speeds on my DSL are a lot slower though, especially when I'm uploading. It doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would though because I don't have much time to download stuff anymore.

Do you have a MySBC User ID and Password?

You will need this, this allows you to access your SBC, ATT account to pay bills + order DSL or other SBC products.

Simple to get, I think they ask for your phone number, the last 4 of the primarys social, name, address, all the basic stuff to make sure you are who you say you are.
