question abou AIO cooler mounting bracket

I have a Zalman LQ-320 I pulled out of my system, the CPU backplate came with 2 double sided sticky foam strips. I've never seen another heatsink that used these. Needless to say I couldn't save them. How important are these? I want to install this in my friends PC, but I'm not sure exactly how vital they are. I could probably find replacements at Lowes or something if I really need to use them. It is made of plastic, maybe they require it because it's so light?

They're not very crucial but it serves two purpose. First is that it provides padding and a kind of stress relief to the motherboard, which also doubles as prevention against shorting out especially when you have soldered components touching the bracket(metal ones). Second is that it makes it easier to mount if you have the bracket attached with tape. I hate cleaning up gummy residue so I left mine as is.

Since yours is plastic, and if you don't mind a bit more work to mount, the sticky foam strip isn't vital.

Thanks that's what I thought, turns out I'll be mounting it in a desktop not tower case, so the stress thing won't even matter.
