quesition about dvi

i boguth a dvi to hdmi wire for my hdtv

my new vid card has dvi and so does my lcd screen

its the same cable thats used for tvs right besides im going to need just dvi to dvi

should i order the dvi-d or dvi-i...dvi-d right?

Yes, it is the same cable. Well sort of. If some of the pins are missing then it is a one way cable. If all the pins are present, it can be used in any application including analogue or HDMI.

HDMI is DVI with extra info sent for copy protection.

Sone DVI connections also support HDCP

DVI-D is the one that is directly equivalent in video to HDMI. DVI-I includes DVI-A which is used to send an analog signal.

You just need the DVI-D part to connect to an LCD monitor.

i know all the differences between hdmi and dvi...was just seeing if its the same as the tv cables

i just got a 7300gt and have an lg 19' widescreen

so this would work

Yeah, that one will work.

You shouldn't need to get the 24 gauge version for a run that short either.
