Ques on OCZ Modstream Install

Noob question again...first build in a long while.
The OCZ Mod 450 came with an inch-diameter metal ring that is not mentioned in the directions. I hate extra pieces! Anyone explain what that is for?

Probaly a grommet to keep the thing from vibrating.
