Im gonna buy my first compactflash anytime soon for my canon powershot a85. It needs a type 1 compactflash card. I saw a Rosewill 1 gig cf card with 20mb max transfer rate priced at $63.50. It does not indicate if its a type 1 or type 2.
How do you know which type is it?
Is this brand good? Lexar's 40x cf card is priced at $80 so I think this would be a bargain.
any comments/suggestions?

Do you know where I can find a cheap hi speed (at least 30x) type 1 cf card online?

For a slow, sh!tty one. Of course, you don't need anything more than the cheapest for a A85.

A friend of mine also want an A85. I told him I bought it from pricescan.com. The cheapest on the site as of today inclusive of the tax and shipping is at $220. I haven't visited a site that sells cheaper than $220.
Does anybody out there know a site that offers a better deal?

I don't think the Kingston Elite Pro is a sh!tty slow POS

zipzoomfly.com

Also, I wouldn't order anything from "pricescan" as they're not even registered with resellerratings.com which is a huge

My intraweb is fvcking up so I can't search for the best deal right now. I suggest you check out gottadeal.com and/or the Hot Deals forums here on anandtech.

Usually Dell.com has a decent deal and they have coupons out right now. $220 is nothing special for the a85

Thank you sir. I'll checkout dell.com right now. But if you can see a site that gives a better deal, let me know. Just pm me. Thank you sir.

NP, dell times out for me so I dunno their price. When you get there, go to their "home" section and find the camera. Once located, check here for the appropriate coupon code and figure out their deal.

bought my a85 about a month ago from buydig.com for ~200. and then got a sandisk ultra 2 cf 512 for ~50 at buy.com. i don't think they've come down that much in price since then.

any 512 or 1 gig stick for cheaper than what i paid is going to be slow.

officemax has the lexar 12x 256mb cf for $14 this week, no rebate to deal with. you dont need a fast card for an P&S digital camera, I got 3 of the lexar for my nikon D70, I can do continue shoot with them. if its good enough for a DSLR, its good enough for your Canon P&S.

Just visited officemax. Lexar 12x 256mb is now @ $29.98. Good for you man.
Sandisk Ultra II is priced higher than Kingston elite pro so I think i'll go for Kingston.
