Query on 8 core motherboards

I am contemplating setting up an 8-core AMD FX-8150 system and really get stumped looking for a motherboard online and being sure it has 8-core support. Any tips on what to look for and my options.

I found a GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3 AM3+ AMD 970 but believe it doesn't support an 8-core. Its confusing and I wish to avoid an expensive mistake selecting parts.

If you're going 8 core you should get a 990FX board.

Don't be afraid of other boards as well. The Crosshair is the best IMO but Biostar makes a highly praised 990FX board for 119

Rule of thumb on air cooling. The more heatpipes the higher the overclock. If you go with a mid-high end air expect 4.4-4.6Ghz. Look into something like this

Don't buy a crappy AMD "8-core". For the price you can get a superior Core i5-3570K or 2500K instead. There's very good, inexpensive motherboards for them as well like the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 and ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3.
