Queen's fury as Bush goons wreck garden
Exclusive By Terry O'Hanlon
THE Queen is furious with President George W. Bush after his state visit caused thousands of pounds of damage to her gardens at Buckingham Palace.

The Americans made alterations to accommodate specialised equipment. The mass of gadgetry meant the Royals couldn't get a decent TV picture during the visit.
Maybe they should put away the Tupperware and embrace the 21st century . . . somebody needs to get out of the house more often.

Lord Daftwager bets Bush will compensate the Queen for damages and for all the grief inflicted upon her poor, jeweled encrusted heart.

Hence why so many peopel hate Bush and the US.

If someone came round your house and destoyed your garned, would you be pleased?

Maybe they should put away the Tupperware and embrace the 21st century . . . somebody needs to get out of the house more often.
(Prince) Harry was away at the Rugby World Cup, watchign his team win a sport that's played in many areas, and even had a team from the US in it, but most of the people here wouldn't have a clue what Rugby was, maybe they need to get out more and no be so ignorant as to what others do.

And can I ask how many grand parents of the people posting in this thread have "embraced the 21st century"?

The quote is "Maybe they should put away the Tupperware and embrace the 21st century . . . somebody needs to get out of the house more often."

You mean, like his dad who, when he went to a supermarket while he was president, didn't know what a price scanner was? You mean like that? The fact is, Baby, that the U.S. has too much pride and faith in gadgetry. The Queen was upset that they trashed and thrashed about to no useful purpose.

EDITED. By the way, how much do you think security cost us while we were there -- excluding the cost of the Queen's garden? We live like Buttheads, we pay like Buttheads.

And why does the story have the word FARCE in the title?

You know, Zebo, If you meant that bit about the queen as a joke, you should have put a little smiley face on it. :) If you didn't mean it as a joke, please note the misteltoe pinned to my coat tail. The queen is pretty benign. If you meant to seriosly insult her, you're so low you could walk under a snake wearing a high hat, look up at his ahole, and think it's the north star. I can understand the joke if you're hard core Irish, but if you're born and bred in America, as I am, I think you're a little off base with the remark about the queen. [Please post all "lighten up" messages below this message.]

Queen is benign?

It has plenty of power, access to untold wealth and unearned privilege. For example, the queen appoints the Prime Minister and in some instances actually chooses him. Using the Royal Prerogative, the Prime Minister can send them to war with the signature of just one other person the queen. The queen is head of the state religion. Elizabeth Windsor is head of the armed forces, the judiciary (and is therefore above the law), the Commonwealth and the state church. No bill becomes law without her signature. What greater power could anyone have?

In additon to her power the royals are undemocratic and maintain an aristocratic and hereditary system totally an contrary to our republican way of thinking where all men are equal and have equal opportunity. It's a medieval feudal relic which must go IMO. But no Britons actually pay for the privalidge to have it.

Ultra, by saying it's an urban ledgend, we've both essentially stated that it made it to the news media. I don't think it's an urban legend. Therefore, I'm not going to try to prove a null hypothesis. Just post a reputable link and steer us to it. It will humble me!

No, no, Zebo. I wouldn't have had any objection to your saying "The English suck." But you said, "The Queen sucks." There's a difference. The queen is an old woman who does not stir the waters. A very wealthy old woman, but tell me about something negative she's done if you still wish her ill.

Try doing the research before you post. It does wonders for your credibility.

I don't know if it's true or speculation but I read someplace they are related. Most definitly Bush is a Blue-blood though. Barbara has bragged about it. Text

People must REALLY hate the British then...not only did they destroy the garden, but they also violated the family pet.

Yes Bush is a Blue-blood, my wifes' family (one side blue-blood as well) new the Bushies before #1 was in office. The only comment I can get from her is, they are quite a dysfunctional family and anything you generally see on TV about them is a nice front. Sorry no links, I haven't quite figured out how to do that to my wife yet! ;)

There was a book written by former white house staff (i'm sure neo-cons would say disgruntaled white house staff) which detailes Bush 1.0 vs. Ronnie. Basically said Ronnie was a wonderful man personally but Bushs were anything but. And charachterized them as mean spirited, cold and calculating... Ronnie hated Bush BTW.

Paper tiger. She has no real power because if she ever used that power in any other way than by that of the will of the government she would be out of a job. The prime minister puts a piece of paper in front of her - she signs it.

If she refuses - bye, bye monarchy.

If she goes public with a political viewpoint - bye, bye monarchy.

She can *never* use the power she appears to have.

Cheers,

Andy
