Quark Xpress won't print

This is a longshot I know.

I've got a user that is trying to print to a Color Laserjet 4500 (postscript drivers) from Quark Xpress 4.1 for Windows. It's an NT 4.0 workstation printing off a Windows NT 4.0 server.

She can print fine in any other app with any printer including the 4500. She can also print a single page of the Quark document and it comes out fine. If she tries to print the whole doc (which is several pages but not unreasonably large) it spools and then clears as if it printed and nothing comes out.

I found technet article Q103107 as the closest match but it doesn't exactly describe the problem and it's referring to Quark 3.1, not 4.1.

Anyone?

Quark is a different breed of animal.....

You can try deleting the file "Xpress Preferences" in the main Quark directory (it will rebuild itself upon loading quark again).

We've also had trouble in the past printing postscrips from network shares when we were on NT4. The quark document had to be located on the local machine, but an upgrade to win2k seemed to fix that. I've never found it documented anywhere.

Quark will also wreak havoc if you have the same serial # on multiple install on the same network. This caused a huge problem when we had "imaged" a graphics machine and installed to to several boxes.

Beyond that I wont be much help.

You said you had trouble printing to network shares...think going straight to the jetdirect would work instead?

Thanks
