I am still fighting Quantum for a $30 rebate from September 2001. I have called their 1-800 number many times. I have faxed the corporate headquarters in December. I have faxed the rebate center in February. Still no rebate.

Any ideas on how to get Quantum to act with honor and do the right thing, which is pay their stinking rebates in timely fashion?

I received two out of three rebates from Dec 2000/Jan 2001 timeframe. I'm about to call them up to check on the third rebate.

I heard that someone wrote a letter to Quantum's Public Relations dept. explaining how they were getting beat up pretty good by AT forums for not sending out the rebates in a timely manner. A lot of people (including me) started receiving their checks within the next week.

Another option is to file a complaint with the FTC. It's easy to fill out the online form but you have to make a strong case before they might do anything. They went after Iomega a fews years ago and won. Now Iomega rebates come in about 4 weeks. After you fill out the form and submit it you could notify Quantum in writing that a FTC complaint has filed against them. If you do this let everyone at AT know so we can file also. The FTC would then receive hundreds (or thousands?) of complaints and they might take action against Quantum. Here are a couple of FTC links:

Wow, if they're going out of the hard drive business, would it be smart to buy one of their products now? I've been eyeing a Quantum Atlas 10K II for a while now. Will they still offer warranty support?

from article:

<< Shareholders approved the sale of the hard drive business to competitor Maxtor, announced in October. >>

I think that means Maxtor will take over everything

I just noticed that they moved the Quantum rebates to the Promotions section on the Maxtor website. Probably the reason Quantum has not been sending out rebates is because they have been working on the transition to move the HD business to Maxtor which includes the rebates.

Maybe we'll have a better chance of getting the rebates if we contact Maxtor. I'll have to give them a call Monday.
