QUANTUM/maxtor 10kII Developing Bad sectors..

My Main HD is, as I wrote, dying slowly.

yesterday, I could NOT boot widows XP due to a Stop: 0000000000000x70(not sure about the numbers), which is evidence of a boot device failure.

A scan from the Controller determined that bad sectors were present.

I will RMA it as soon as possible, but would like your advice first.

This is only a one-year old Drive, but I was going to use it for a linux boxand upgrade.

Maxtor is now marketing the a 15k series.

Has anyone found any info other than that on Maxtor's website?

Seagate 15.3k's reign supreme, but if I could get a credit from maxtor instead of a replacement (how much I don't know) that would be nice.

So, anyone have any info?

Appearantly Maxtor's RMA's are flawless, so that doesn't remain in question.

the maxtor 15k drives have been announced, but not released.

15.3k drives are just now showing up in stores, after being released ~2 months back(?)
