I am getting ready to order this hdd. Be gentle since this is my first post.
Staples has it for 138.99. order with the 30 dollar off coupon. then call them and prince match buy.com 126.95 and it ends up being 96.95 shipped. I know there is a rebate of 30.00, but this wayyou do not need to get the rebate!!

Also, do anyone know a site I can buy hp 932c refills (or offbrand) fairly cheap??

good job man ;) but you'll probably get flamed here no matter what you say --- it's a 'free' society or something like that

Can't you still used the rebate too? I do not see anything on the coupon saying it has to be from Buy.com. It just says Quantum's Authorized Marketers. This would make this deal even hotter at $96.95 + tax + shipping - $30 rebate.

That's a very good deal if you can't use the buy.com coupon.

I got this hard drive and it Makes My System Rock. :p It will rock even more when I get that rebate...Also that staples one is probably the retail version whereas buy.com is a bare drive but not OEM. Lucky my MSI board came with an ATA cable.

Edit Take a look here nightowl for the rebate form
Doesn't say Staples, sorry...

briddle,

Nice find! I also am ready to buy this drive but I have some bad news about the Staples PM, of course YMMV.

This is the cost for shipping to Los Angeles:

$126.95 (BUY.com PM)
- $30 (Staples $30 coupon)
+ $17.46 (Buy.com FedEX overnight)
+ $10.15 (8% tax)
--------
$124.56 TOTAL

Actually it seems to be even better just to use the $30 Staples coupon without the pricematch if you don't want to worry about the rebate:

$138.99 (Staples)
- $30 (Staples coupon)
+ $11.12 (8% tax)
----------
$120.11

Of course, if you can wait out the rebate, BUY.com is really the way to go:

$126.95 (Buy.com)
- $2.53 (Ebates 2%)
+ $5.85 (shipping)
+ $10.15 (8% tax)
---------
$140.42 sub-TOTAL shipped
- $30 (Quantum -slow- rebate)
---------
$110.42 TOTAL

I hope my math is OK. There might be better deals out there but this was the best I could find. With the reports of Quantum being slow on rebates it might be worth the extra $10 just to NOT have to deal with all the paperwork and waiting.

I bought this drive at Buy.com in December. It IS fast. It is also kinda loud compared to my Maxtor. Doesn't bother me but may bother some. My rebate came in 5 weeks which I think is pretty fast. Maybe I was just lucky?

The problem with Quantum rebate is it never came! Submitted 9/25, got a postcard saying rebate materials received 11/10, and still waiting for the check.

and yes, it IS loud. I put it in my TiVo and the TV sound couldn't cover the noise from this HD.

buy.com shipping is 5.95. I talked to staples and they said the deal would work as I described it. On the quantum rebate it lists the stores you have to purchase it. staples is not one of these.

I still need a place to get hp932c color and b/w deskjet cart. (generic would do).
