I'm trying to weigh software engineering offers from Microsoft (in Redmond/Bellevue) and Yahoo (Silicon Valley). The jobs are comparable, as are the salaries (i.e. a sh1tload). Does anyone have any first-hand experience with the difference in quality-of-life?
I'll admit I am looking to find a long-term relationship, so the quality and quantity of eligible women are nothing to scoff at. The Silicon Valley singles scene is horrible. And then this interesting statistic from wikipedia caught my eye:
King County, where Microsoft is at:
For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.30 males.
Santa Clara County, where Yahoo is at:
For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.90 males.
I'm hoping the women up in Seattle are a bit more down-to-earth and not so obsessed with money, SUVs, and spawning.
